Celebrant or registrar: Which would you choose ?

Organising a wedding can be very stressful, but when it comes to conducting the most important ceremony of your life , it is key to choose the right person. Your day can then be the special day you want it to be.
So what’s the difference between a registrar and a celebrant ? A registrar will conduct your service and even do all the legal parts . A celebrant will do the same but cannot perform the legal aspects of your wedding.

So why a celebrant then?

Because celebrants have time to give and we are not bound by time restraints . They don’t have to rush off to another wedding or be elsewhere . The beauty about a celebrant is their commitment to your day. A good celebrant will do one wedding on that day devoting their time to you . You can choose exactly how you want the ceremony to be and what readings and music you want . The wedding can be your design and at your own pace.

The role of the celebrant

As a celebrant , I want to get to know everything about my couple and spend time understanding their needs for their wedding day. We will build a rapport prior to the ceremony and you will always have control of the day in how you want things to run. All you will have to do is fill in some fun, simple questionnaires about you both and then we can go from there! I can even help spice up your vows if you are having difficulty putting them together !

We can include religious or spiritual aspects to your wedding and you can get married just about anywhere you choose ! Celebrants don’t only restrict themselves to licensed venues . If you want to get married on top of a mountain then so be it ! Just warn me in advance so I can pack all the essentials !

How about the legal bit?

Many couples choose to do the legal bit before the big day or even during it. The celebrant will just make it all special for you . You don’t even have to tell your guests that the day is not legally binding. That’s up to you and so is when you decide to do the legal part .

Therefore, if you want the wedding of your dreams- outdoors or indoors where just about anything goes, then a celebrant is the way to go. My approach is all about adding a light-hearted, fun and uniquely personal touch to your ceremony .

Whatever you decide and whichever ceremony you choose, it can be as unconventional as you like. The choice you have to make now is which celebrant will you choose ?
